Arriving in Canada before the start of the work contract

Dear All,

I have a work contract starting in Canada on the 1st of November. Problem is, I have a flight booked already, arriving in Canada on the 11th of October. Can I enter and get my work permit at immigration when I arrive, or is three weeks before the start of working too early? Is there an allowed time period that you can arrive?

Is your work permit approved? If so, you can travel to Canada with that. I don't think you can apply work permit at the border except some special situations
