Hi all,

I need some advice on this.

I got an ITA in the last draw, nothing submitted yet. I spent some time in the army reserve in my home country - 12 years. My service is on my EE profile.

My lawyer has now requested that I get a copy of my discharge papers. I've been in touch with my former unit, and it's going to take some time to get them, maybe 3 months.

As usual, the immigration consultant can't offer a solution except try and get them.

I reckon the request to get a copy of them should be enough to show I've exercised my due diligence and submit them if requested at a later date. Any ideas?

I suppose what I'm asking does a submission without my discharge papers but correspondence to demonstrate due diligence has been carried out constitute an incomplete submission?

I don't have firsthand experience so I'm going out on a limb here.

I imagine that the best you can do under the circumstances is wait till the last possible date to submit your application. Along with that, keep a LOE ready wherein you regret for not having started the process of getting a discharge certificate earlier, outline all the steps taken (along with documentation) to get the certificate, provide evidence from the army that said certificate will be delivered to you in X days and finally put in an earnest appeal to the VO assessing your application to consider it favorably as you've done all you possibly could at your end to send in a complete application.

I guess that's the best you can do here.

All the best!

That's what I was thinking. Thank you!
