My wife will be processed through HK as well. We're not too concerned with the posted processing times, as we know for a fact that many are getting approved in under a year. They put those times as an estimate, they are not really numbers I trust. Case in point: we were told (emphatically), that the processing time for our son's proof of citizenship would take a year or more. 3 months later we had it. At the time they said the processing times are based on the past, but in fact they were off by a lot!

The Hong Kong VO has actually been processing a lot faster than 19 months. When they do the quarterly (what a joke!) update, I'm betting the processing time for 80% of applications will be down to 13-15 months. This will also have an impact on the faster processing times, so not to worry.

If your case is strong, they process the visa very quickly! We know a couple who have a similar background to our own and they got their visa within 3-4 months (including the sponsor approval time!!!).

Cheer up...it won't take 19 months!!!

You will hear from CIC soon about your sponsorship application. Just relax and let things go its way. It will not be 19 months. Have faith and patience. You can read my timeline under my name. Still waiting like Fencesitter for the sponsorship approval.

They usually don't acknowledge that they have received the application. Did you send in your application by registered mail or HK Speed Post? You can trace the packet by using the HK Post Office's website to see if they have received it. I sent in my application in early October last year and then my wife as the sponsor received an email from CIC saying that she is approved to be a sponsor in the middle of December and that the file would be transferred back to Hong Kong. Since then, we did not hear anything from them until the middle of February this year asking for further documents. Our ecas status was changed from "Application Received" to "In Process" on 16 May and they just requested us to get the Police Certificate. Hopefully we will be getting the approval soon.

if they ask you to get the Police Certificate , that will approval asap.
I think if apply in last year is more easy and more quick ,in the past the Step 1 is only 30 days, now become 90 days. And we are Hong Kong are slowly also, becasue they need to send back to HK for approval again :(

My wife's file is processed in HK as well. We applied last year in August and the file is in HK since Nov. My wife has been scheduled for interview next week, and I am coming there for her interview. I fly this Saturday to HK. Hopefully everything will be all right. Maybe I can take her with me on my flight back to Toronto. There are still seats left for that flight back (wishfull thinking).
Anyways, good luck to you.
For strong cases, it is resolved within first 6-7 months, after the file arrives in HK. I think I may fall in that category (Nov.-June). Families with a child, my wife told me from a Chinese forum she is memeber of, are not asked for an interview (FS case), they are approved pretty quickly.

Good luck Marty 11. Had already wondered when you would fly over. Stay calm and be confident. They have a seventh sense for that and if they ask weird questions just answer calm and with determination. My interview when i came to Canada was ridiculous but I did put all determination into it and got approved back then. Hope you will bring good news back.

Thanks mobeyk, I trully hope so. I gathered as much evidence as I could possibly find, including your idea of printing my Facebook timeline, for when I posted our wedding and vacation pictures there and my friends comments. We also got 11 or 12 blessing letters from parents, siblings and friends. I translated and certified here my wife's letters, she has the originals. Igot her health insurance as well, starting July 01, for three months, untill OHIP comes into effect. Unfortunately I could not do anything at work, because in all tyhe forms for pension, life insurance, etc.... it says either that she has to live in Canada or she has to live with me, meaning that she has to have some form of residency here in Canada. But I included an explanation for that in Sponsor Questionnaire attachment. I even got the Christmas card she sent to my mother, I asked my mother to send that to me and she did.
I am pretty confident and I have a feeling that we will succeed. If that is the case, she might be here before the middle of July, or even on our weding anniversary (July 07).
I will keep you guys posted with what's happening.

Hello Fencesitter,
Question on your son's Proof of Citizenship, where did you send your file? to HongKong or Sydney Nova Scotia? only take them 3 months that is very fast.

Thanks
