Hi guys
I wonder if anyone has actually experienced giving birth in US as a Canadian Parent. My wife is a Canadian citizen and we probably will spend most of next two years in US.
I wonder if we have a baby( we are planning on this right now) at that time what the kid's citizenship would be. Somebody told me that if born to Canadian parents, US born kids will have to renounce one of their citizenship when the parents are applying kids' Canadian citizenship.
I already checked CIC website and Canadian-US consulate but I did not find any related topics. Most of the information I get just indicated that my child will be qualified to apply for a Can-US dual citizenship. I doubt what I heard could be true because this sounds conflicts to both US and Canadian principles but I just would like to be sure that my child can get Canadian citizenship (through his/her first generation citizenship mother) even he/she is born in US.
Thanks a lot
