Are notebooks and toiletries expensive in Canada?

I'm packing for Canada and the item occupying the most weight in my luggage after my clothes seems to be notebooks and toiletries.

Are toiletries expensive in Canada? or cheaper or similar priced if compared to India?

I don't care about shampoos but my skin is sensitive so I use paraben free soaps and facewashes. I don't know how much readily available they are in Canada.

Also let me know the average cost of thick notebooks that I will need for college.

We have lots of paraben-free stuff here. But I don't know what you consider expensive. Having said that, at some point you are going to have buy those things here or have them shipped by family at home. Staples has online shopping so you can see the price of notebooks there.
