1) I think it's extremely unlikely you will be granted an extension based on ESL courses.

2) Definitely not.

Can someone enlighten in similar case-

I faced academic suspension for 2 semester [ Before suspension i completed 3 semester ]. i thought of taking admission in other college. But faced bad luck . At last i went to Saskatchewan to do ESL [ As i don't want any gap in my studies]. After completing half of my suspension . I returned to my old college and they accepted me as Full-time student . And cancelled my half suspension period. So now what are my chances for study permit extension?

1. It's not for CIC to see your academic 'performance', you must have;

: a valid SP,
: a full time student status,
: studying with in the maximum course completion period.

1. Poor academic record is not a reason for refusal of SP extension, as long as you are a full time registered student with a valid SP.

Based only on my experience as a former student, it can be a reason for refusal - goes to the core of being a "bona fide" student . An officer needs supporting documents for the extension and trancripts tell the whole story.

In m opinion, the applicant is better off submitting transcripts, an explanation of what happened and what he did to improve. The ESL classes and being re-admitted by the school are strong points.

1. It could be a reason of refusal for OCWP application, but not for SP extension if you are;

1. attending school, full time status with a valid SP.
2. registered with a new LOA in hand.
3. studying within the maximum completion period.

and it's no where mentioned that your SP extension might be refused due to poor academics.

In the interests of applicants with similar stories, thought it best to post here. A study permit remains a priviledge, not a right so extensions are not guaranteed.

Here is a similar story: http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/-t103271.0.html

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/guides/5552ETOC.asp

What information do I need to apply?

In addition to the requirements for all temporary residents, you must provide:
1.
The documents specified below:
a.For attendance at a university, college or other post-secondary institution: i.a letter, registration paper or form from the education institution which shows: i.confirmation of your acceptance and/or registration as a student;
ii.the course of study;
iii.how many courses you will be taking and/or how many hours you will attend each week (not required if you are attending a university or college);
iv.intended start date and when you expect to finish the academic program;
v.any condition related to your acceptance or registration (When there is a condition related to your registration, you may have to satisfy us that you have met the condition before a study permit can be issued); and
vi.proof of academic standing at institution(s): letter from institutional registrar and/or photocopies of transcripts from your last two periods of study, if you have studied for two consecutive periods (trimesters, semester etc.) prior to your application for renewal of your study permit.

b.For attendance at a primary or secondary school: i.a letter from the school, school board, district or division responsible for the school you will be attending, showing the level of study and the date you are expected to finish your studies.
ii.proof of academic standing at institution(s): i.for secondary school, a letter from institutional registrar or guidance department and/or photocopies of transcripts from your last two periods of study, if you have studied for two consecutive periods (trimesters, semester, etc.) prior to your application for renewal of your study permit.
ii.for primary school, a letter from the school office and/or photocopies of the final report card or transcripts from the most recent academic year.

Not convinced. I have my SP renewal in hand and at the time of application, I submitted only a new LOA (no transcripts as the same is "optional").

Still in doubt? so read this....

I thought I should not disclose it. I am a post graduate student of business program in Canada. During my very first semester, something terrible happened and I got arrested by the 3 police officers (along with one dog) in a night house raid and after that 5 months of criminal court proceeding. I was forced to drop first semester and did not attend any classes. Once the matter was settled out of court, I applied for SP renewal based only on a new LOA (no transcripts/grades were attached since I was declared failed in the first semester). Fortunately, I got it approved after 57 working days. So, I have a valid fact (actually I always avoid giving opinion) to suggest that academic performance has nothing to do with your SP Extension as long as you are;

: a full time student with a valid SP
: a valid registration in school
: studying with in a maximum course completion period.

According to my University (International Student Office) who advise international students with SP renewal cases, has stated that it's rare for international students to submit "transcript", we got them approved with a new LOA since it's "optional" (not mandatory) to submit transcript.

If you think academic records are really important in deciding SP renewal, then why it's optional to submit transcript along with renewal application.

A very special thanks to PMM for all his guidance during one of the most difficult (and adventurous) time of my life.

The reason I am posting all this is only to encourage students with failed records. If you can submit transcript, that's good, but if you do not have anything to show, you can still manage.
