ARC Help!

Hi,
I am really desperate at the moment, so if you could help me it would be much appreciated.
Long story short, I had my visitor visa extension denied. I got the rejection letter a day before I left. (I already bought the ticket before getting the letter) so I thought I was rather lucky and left WITHOUT verifying my departure. The letter didn't mention anythjng about checking in with CBSA and that's why I just left. Now, I am about to apply for a study permit. And I just learned about the ARC. I will need one because I want to go back to Canada to study. In addition, I am now seeing that I dont need to apply for ARC if I apply for a study permit. I am so confused right now.
It's Friday and CIC won't answer for the next 2 days. Please advise me what to do. A study permit and ARC? Or just the study permit?

Thank you scylla! So, do you think there will be no problem re entering Canada? I thought a visa extension refusal letter was a departure order and a departure verification was needed. Maybe I was understanding wrong the whole time.. ???

It sounds like you just got that generic refusal letter (direction to leave Canada?) I don't think that's the same thing as a departure or deportation order.

Regardless, if you DO need an ARC, they let you know during the application process. You aren't supposed to send it with your permit application.

Thank for the link, Aquakitty. But what I was wondering is whether I was issued a departure order. Because I am no longer in Canada and didn't know about reporting my departure, this could be a serious matter to me.

Yes, but there's nothing you can do about it until they request the ARC, which seems highly unlikely. Do you remember what it said? I recall my spouse's "leave Canada" letter said something like "You must leave Canada immediately" (This was after a visitor extension refusal). There is nothing on it about turning into a deportation order in 30 days, and nothing on it about reporting to the border. That fact alone makes me quite sure you didn't get a departure order.
