Hi guys,

As you may know, if you are 55 and older, you don't have to submit the language proof with the application. However, when my mom submit her application, she was only 54 and her application just got returned because of missing language proof. They say:

"Your application for Canadian Citizenship was considered incomplete and was not processed and fees were not taken, Your application and proof of payment are therefore returned to you"

My family thought that 54 was the cut off age and not 55, so we didn't include the language proof for my mom.

As you can see, my mom is not very good with English and she is afraid of taking the test.

So what is the option for this situation if my mom want to wait for another year and apply again when she turns 55?

- Do nothing and just wait till next year and apply again?
- Send a request to withdraw (and refund) then wait till next year?

What about the days calculation? They say we need to use the original date of the 1st application, does it mean when she applies again, she have to use the old date when she signed the 1st application and that should make her technically 54 and not 55?

Please help.
