Hi there,

I wondered if anyone knows whether an apprenticeship is considered a job offer worthy of a work permit? My husband has years of experience as a carpenter but not any official qualification. We are already in Canada BC working for winter and considering work for next summer. But it must be able to provide a work permit. Could he be offered an apprenticeship role as work if he gets a positive LMO?

Thanks.

The employer will have to obtain an approved LMO. This is typically very difficult to do for apprenticeships because to be approved for an LMO, the employer has to prove that a Canadian couldn't be found for the role (not sure how an employer would prove this for an apprenticeship). If you find a willing employer - by all means give it a go.
