I put this topic in the TRV section, but that board seems really dead. And since it crosses over a little, I thought I can post it here! Don't hate me! :P

My husband will be applying for a TRV, we are waiting for him to become a PR -- so it's a long shot. I live in Canada and he lives in Peru. As we are married, do I need to be appointed as the representative in order to inquire information about the status of his TRV?

Also, does anyone know if he submits a marriage certificate to prove our relationship, does it have to be an original?

Thanks

Hi!

You don't need to be his "representative" in the TRV forms. He doesn't need to send any originals for the additional documents. A simple photocopy of your marriage cert will be enough.

If she wants to be able to inquire about the application herself, she would need to be listed as his representative. Fill out IMM5476, Use of Representative to be signed by both you and your husband and submitted with the TRV application. They wouldn't release any information to her without that on file.

okay super, thanks for your replies! I suppose we'll submit that form just in case.

Make sure you keep a signed copy.

for sure -- I was reviewing it yesterday and it's really really easy to pass that over.
