Applying work permit and study permit at the same time?

Hello,
My work permit expires at the end of January 2017. My spouse just received her PGWP and has started working. I'm going to apply for a spouse work permit soon. Just in case if the application was rejected, I'd have to remain legal status. So in the worst case, I'm planning to back to school.
When I receive the academic admission, should I apply for a study permit right away? It's already the end of September, I don't have to much time now... Does the study permit make my current work permit and future spouse work permit application invalid?

Why do you think your spousal work permit would be rejected? If your spouse works full time as a skilled worker (noc A, B, 0) and supports your application with reference letter and payslips from her/his employer, it won't be refused.

I think you can have study permit and OWP at the same time, as PGWP application asks if applicant wants to have a study permit along with the work permit.

OWP has a restriction, you can't study unless you get authorization. It means to me, you can apply for study visa if you want to study beside your OWP. That's only an opinion though.
