Hello,

I'm wondering if anyone has applied for the citizenship without one of the required Immigration Document (#1 requirement)? It takes 6 months to get a replacement, and so I wonder if I can just go ahead and send in the application with an explanation of why my Immigration Document is missing instead of waiting 6 month for a replacement? Then I could send it in later.

Has anyone ever done that, and is it possible? Would my application be delay or return without the immigration document? What kind of explanation is acceptable? I can send in the original copy one that is now illegible... is that an acceptable explanation or should I just wait for 6 months to get a replacement?

A better option would be to apply for new record of landing now and then immediately afterwards send out the citizenship application explaining the reasons and highlighting that you had applied for a replacement. The proof can also be included in the citizenship application.

Thank you!

I already applied for the replacement. But I don't want to wait for until I get the replacement to send in my application. I plan to do what you suggested, but I want to make sure that it's acceptable because I don't want to have my application be return or delay...

Call the CIC office and find out. I would do that first and if there isn't a clear answer I'd send the application, there is no harm it will be delayed either way if you have to have it, ie, your application will be delayed if you wait for it or delayed if you send the application and it's sent back to you, but if they accept the application with the explanation then that would be great.
