Hi,

We are all permanent residents and have completed the 1095 minimum days. We are applying with a 9 year old child who was born outside Canada (none of us are Canadian) and we would lile to know if we should use the subsection 5(1) or 5(2)?.

I applied on paper with family and used 5(2).

5(1) is the complete separate application for a kid, which includes the assessment of the number of days during the eligibility period.

5(2) is specific to kids of Canadian citizen or if the minor is applying at the same time as a parent. It's a simplified application, the eligibility is simply based on whether the parent is eligible himself or herself. Go with this one :)
