Applying TRV while WP extension (except PGWP) is under process

Hi,

My closed work permit extension is under process since December 2022. My TRV is already expired and I am in Canada now. I need to go back to India for family emergency. Should I apply for TRV now? Or leave Canada with extended work permit and apply for renewal of TRV from India. I am in a complete state of confusion. Please help!

You need to have a new approved WP in order to apply TRV

There is no such thing as renewal of TRV

If you leave Canada after your WP us approved, you need a fresh TRV to enter and you can apply it from India. Processing times will be as per your current country of residence.

Thanks for your kind suggestion. Sorry for the late reply. I got my work permit approval letter. Can I apply for a TRV with only Work permit approval letter (I didn't receive the work permit yet and it usually takes time now till it is received)? Also, Do I need to raise a webform to request CPC to transfer my files to home country, India (I will send my passport stamping in India)? I will appreciate if you help me related to this matter.

You can apply for TRV using the Approval letter & if you get your WP to hand, then attach that via a webform to your TRV Application

Once you are not in Canada, automatically IRCC will transfer the application to the nearest CPC and you do not need to raise a webform for it.

You have to wait till you get the Passport Request for your TRV Application before you can send the passport to VFS for stamping.
