Dear members,

My mother is in Sri Lanka and she is going to apply for Super visa to visit Canada. I have read all the documents in the CIC website and also read some threads in this forums and having some understanding on this.

In regards to sufficient fund, I am sending my assessment of income which I received from my last year tax submission. My earning is matching with the income mentioned in the CIC website (for 5 people). I am taking health care coverage for her and going to submit that too. Do I need to submit more information on this like bank statements?

Also, to prove my mother ties to her home country, is it essentials to show any assets like land / House? She does not have any assessments like house or land. Is this affect her eligibility? She is a widow and her daughter (my sister) is living in India and my mother frequently visits to India (once in year and stays for 4 months)..

Please let me know and help me on this.

Thank you

Yes - you can send your assessment of income from last year. That's enough.

Yes - it's important that she show ties to her home country to prove she has no plans on remaining in Canada long term. Try to come up with something.

Thank you for the inputs.

She is receiving around 32K pension in SL currency for every month and she has around CAD 7000 in her account. Also, she has 3 siblings and 5 in laws. Honestly she has no plan to stay longer than 8 months as she wants to see her daughter and grandson in India. Every year she travels to India to celebrate Christmas with them. Do I need to mention this and prove her Visa copies in her passport?
My honest intention for super visa is to call her every summer and send back her before winter starts. Should I mention than or just mentioning 8 months is enough?

Thank you again for your inputs. It meant a lot for us.

Do go through Document Checklist IMM5484.

Proofs of your financial support can include NOA, bank statements, pay stubs, employment letter, etc + a letter/affidavit promising financial support for her visit.

Also, to prove my mother ties to her home country, is it essentials to show any assets like land / House? She does not have any assessments like house or land. Is this affect her eligibility?
Does she live in rented accommodation in Sri Lanka? Does she live with any family (immediate or extended)? Do her siblings and their families live in the same town/city as your mom?

You could also prepare an Explanation: My Immediate and Extended Family in Sri Lanka and India.... do make two separate tables (Immediate Family stating briefly names/address/relationship + Extended Family - broadly without names/addresses)

The stronger the ties she shows to Sri Lanka, the better her chances of getting a visa.

Honestly she has no plan to stay longer than 8 months as she wants to see her daughter and grandson in India. Every year she travels to India to celebrate Christmas with them. Do I need to mention this and prove her Visa copies in her passport?
Mention only the current visit.... not future ones.

Yes, do prepare a Travel History explanation.... scan the visas + state visa details, entry/exit dates + purpose of each visit.... and mention that since the last XX years, she has spent Christmas every year with her daughter.... for 4 months on each visit.

Apart from Christmas (for example) if she has to attend a family function/any other reason then do include evidence for this.

Also if (for example) your mom's health does not allow her to live in cold weather then you may want to state this as a reason for her to return to Sri Lanka/India.... do include any evidence if possible.

Cheers

Hello,

Can someone help me on how to mention the self-employment details in the invitation letter and how I can prove them?

I have been self-employed since April 2015 and registered a company (Corporate) under my name. I have proper registration documents, HST / GST numbers and receipts of HST / GST submissions. All my past jobs are permanent jobs and this is the first time that I am working as self-employee. All my previous Notice of assessments are based on my previous jobs.

Your help will be much appreciated

Thank you

Hi Raj,

For a super visa, you must prove that you meet LICO for yourself, your wife, kids + your mom.

For this, do submit business registration documents, HST/GST returns, NOA or Option C printout, etc etc + a letter from your accountant confirming your annual income + proofs of other sources of income (pension funds, financial investments, etc).

For your invitation letter, do state you are self-employed and give the details.... also give references to attached evidence that you meet LICO

Cheers

Dear members,

today my mother submitted the documents for super visa. However, the officer on the desk requested my (son’s) bank statement for 6 months and o he wants the medical insurance coverage that purchased for my mother up to March 2017 (current one expiring Feb 2017)

 Is my bank statement is important material to decide my financial situation. I have already submitted my NOA for last two years, accountant letter to prove my self-employment income (more than the LICO), HST/GST and CPP receipts. I do not keep considerable amount in saving in my bank account for each month; but officers can see regular enough cash flows

Why the officer need medical insurance coverage up to March 2017 whereas intended to leave from Canada in December 16th

The officer checked all other documents and satisfied, but gave back to my mom and asked her to submit them along with above requested documents by next Monday

Please help me on this.

VFS offices sometimes give hard time on getting required documents. Normally if you provide NOA and employment letter, it should be sufficient. When my mom applied via VFS, I provided my bank statement for 1 month but when I applied second time via online, I only provided NOA and employment letter. I don't know if VFS gets instructions from CIC or they make their own decision.

You will have to get medical coverage for 1 year from the departure date. Even if she is coming for 2 or 3 months, you will still have to submit the medical coverage for 1 year (super visa requirement). There are many insurance companies who will charge daily rate for the coverage and once she returns back home, you can send the confirmation of ticket / boarding pass and they will refund rest of the money (in order to qualify for this, you may not make any claim for the duration). You may talk your insurance broker or if you need anyone help finding one then you can contact me and I can recommend the person whom I have used.

Good luck.
