However, I am staying in the country and one of the questions under "proof of relationship" asks if we live together. We don't have supporting official documents, like lease (i'm not on it), utilities are paid by paying back money to landlord and we don't have a joint bank account or phone bill to show that we live together.

Should I check no and just provide all other documents and letters that support our relationship?

additional info about me: from the US, married a beautiful Canadian, I am under visitor status and also awaiting extension but we are finalizing our PR app now!

Thanks for any help! :D

I'm in the same situation, but we're not living together, since I work and live in the US (we cross frequently to visit). From what I've heard on these forums, US/Canada gets a little bit of a leeway as far as proof of relationship...but he's what I plan to provide.

  • Multiple Christmas/Birthday/Wedding cards from friends/family and between us. Photocopied.

20 Photos (max limit), about ~10 of our wedding, and 10 throughout the years of us dating.

Boarding Pass photocopies with our names on them which show us going to our wedding, visiting, etc.

Notarized Letter from my parents saying how we met, how our relationship is true/valid, etc. (I heard this isn't required for married couples, only common-law, but I figure more proof won't hurt).

Passport Stamp photocopies of when we first met and traveled to visit each other.

Proof of me showing my wife (sponsor) as my beneficiary on my 401k (retirement) account.

Facebook Message Chats between my wife and I, and Facebook "About Me" printout which shows when my wife and I first met, married, etc.

I wrote on the back of each item (and each photo) explaining what it is. We didn't sign every photo but we signed all the other proof documents on the back. Now we're not living together, so we also don't have shared bills, property, etc. I was told this should be plenty of proof by members here on the forum. For you, with living together, I couldn't say the same; but hopefully that gives you an idea.

I'm just gonna apply using the old forms... there you can send as much proof as you want haha!
