Applying from the US and might need to leave the country.

I hold an Indian passport and plan to apply for spousal sponsorship to Canada while residing in the US. At the time I start the application, I will be living in the US, but I may move to India during the process. I don’t have a US visa to re-enter the country. Will moving to India affect my Canadian sponsorship application? Would it be better for me to remain in the US throughout the process?
