I'm filled with questions today.

So my wife and I are wondering whether or not I can apply for work once I have landed or must I wait for the physical PR card? My wife has pulled some strings for me to possibly work at her company, if there is a space available. Found out that one of her co-workers is leaving in a few months. Her boss said that they would be willing to hire me once everything goes through.

Hi,

I believe that once you receive your COPR, you can then obtain your permanent SIN, which would allow you to work.

Ok...next question. ;)

From what I know, the first thing you need to do after landing is apply for your Social Insurance Number (SIN). That will be given to you on the spot, and the SIN card will arrive later. But just knowing your SIN (without having the SIN card and the PR card) will allow you to get a job, a bank account etc.

Not all port of entry has an on-site Canada Service that would allow you to apply for SIN on the spot upon landing. If you did not receive your SIN on the spot, you can go to nearest Canada Service office and apply for SIN with your COPR docs.

Oh, I didn't mean you can get your SIN at the time of the landing, sorry if I was vague.
