I'm currently working in Canada under my PGWP (valid till 2016), recently I went back to my home country (Malaysia) to get married. Now I want to apply for a open work permit for my spouse, who is still in Malaysia but plans to come over to Canada to join me in about a months time. However, we would like to avoid buying a return ticket for her unless it is necessary as we don't intend to leave Canada for more than a year.
So here are my questions:
1. Can I apply for this work permit on behalf of my spouse within Canada (she already has a valid TRV up to 2015), preferably online as the processing time is faster.
2. Assuming (1.) is possible, and I mail her the work permit sent to me. Will she be allowed to enter Canada on just a one-way ticket?
3. If (1.) is not possible, Im guessing the next best thing is to have her come over with a return ticket and she applies within Canada, yes?
