Hey guys!

I'd appreciate it if you could weigh in your thoughts about applying for a TRV whilst PR is in IP. Currently my application is at the VO in Manila and I'm waiting for my Passport Request. Currently it's been taking the VO 9-12 months (average) to make a decision on applications. I was thinking about applying for TRV(heard it only takes 8 days to apply for) so that I could spend Christmas with my family.

I have the following questions:
1. Is it a feasible plan?
2. (theoretically I'm in Canada) When my PPR arrives do I have to enter the Philippines then send my Passport or can I send it to the VO from Canada?
3. (if i can send it from Canada) Will it be sent back to Canada or to the current mailing address in the application?
4. When I get the passport with PRV do I have to return to the Philippines and exit again?

Thank you so much for helping in advance!

1) You can apply for TRV and visit Canada during Christmas holidays. It has nothing to do with IP PR application.
2) In case you get PPR while physically in Canada, I think you can send PP to your VO enclosing return envelope to Sponsor's Canada address. Please check with experienced member on this issue. When you receive your PP in Canada, you can flagpole for re-entry to Canada with COPR.

Hi

1. You can most definitely apply but with a Canadian spouse and a PR app in process, the chances of being granted a TRV are low. You will need to show significant ties to your home country.

2. Applicants in Canada are sometimes given the option of sending the passport to Ottawa. If not, you can courier it to Manila.

3. Unless you enclose a prepaid return envelope, they will only send it to an address in the Philippines.

4. No. You can flagpole at the Canada-US border or make an appointment at a CIC office to land (can take anywhere from weeks to months to get an appointment).

Hi canuck.

Thank you for replying.

Because as of now I don't really have any ties in the Philippines but I am studying. But I don't really have any properties to show the visa officer.
Will presenting a return ticket help?

A return ticket doesn't count for much; it can easily be cancelled. Without strong ties, your chances are low.
