Hello everyone,

Me and my wife are from Brazil, and we are living in Abu Dhabi because she has a job here. Recently she received a positive LMIA offer and we are going to apply for temporary residence.

The problem is, the process time here in UAE takes too long (22 weeks) and we need to be there in the middle of August. So we want to apply for the visa from some europe country for 5 main reasons:

1) The process in there runs more fast than UAE and Brazil
2) Is more close from UAE than Brazil is
3) we can stay 90 days as tourists
4) My wife could do short time courses related to her area
5) An opportunity to visit another country before go to canada

I know that the CIC says you only need to prove that you are legal in the country you are applying from, but I would like to know if someone here did this before and if it's possible.

Thank you very much.

You should apply from either the UAE or Brazil. Processing times tend to take longer if you are applying outside of your home country / country of residence. You may end up waiting longer than 22 weeks if you go somewhere as tourist and apply from there. Additionally, to be approved for a work permit, you must show ties to your home country / country of residence. Hard to do this if you are applying from a country where you're a visitor.
