applying for skilled immigration from toronto (canada).
hello seniors. i am currently working in telecomm in IT field (in canada from last 2 months) on temporary work permit.

i am about to apply economic skilled immigration from here as i have permanent job.
my question is
is it faster to apply now or wait for canadian experience class category which i can after 1 year?
does anyone know how much time it takes if i apply skilled immigration now based on permanent job offer?
if i loose my current job, do i have to leave country? what option do i have to stay?

i really need your help.

Hi Yoboy,

IMO, you should apply ASAP since you qualify now. Don't wait for CEC, which will be available to you only after a year. If your fears about losing your job becomes a reality ( I sincerely hope not) then you may not qualify for CEC.

According to the CIC news, Min. Kenny hopes to finalize cases within a yr or less.

In case you lose your job, you may apply for Visitor status and while the application is being processed you would still enjoy a Legal status which is called "Implied status".

Take the chance (apply) now than later as you never know what further changes CIC might implement in the future.

Good Luck.

if i have implied status what does that mean.
would i be able to apply new job and for that i need LMO again and same old work permit process. is that right?

IMPLIED status means that you are LEGALLY residing in Canada.

You may look for jobs and in case you happen to find one then you may request your Employer to apply for a LMO and later you can apply for work permit with the approved LMO.

You cannot work while you are on Implied status and without LMO/WP.
