Hello folks,
I just landed in Canada three days ago, and I have been putting all my effort in finding a suitable place to live for the next several years (I can't live too long in Airbnb). I was told at the immigration that receiving a SIN at a Service Canada branch is one of the first things I need to do after landing. My question is, will I need to provide a permanent address in order to apply for a SIN?
Also, I already had a SIN number when I was studying in Canada years ago, but I was told to go to Service Canada anyway. Will my old SIN be discarded and will I be getting a completely new SIN? I guess this information must be written somewhere but I failed to find the information (both on the internet as well as my welcome package), so I decided to use this forum to ask.
Thanks in advance!
