Hello,
me and fiance are getting married in 2 weeks from now in canada. she is from indonesia and is currently on a visitor visa staying with me. After our wedding we want to apply for PR but we dont know how much time we need to do this. Her visitor visa expires on Setember 1st so that gives us a 2.5 month window to apply while she's here. Will this be enough time? The CIC hasn't got back to us and their phone line is always busy. If anyone has more info on this or could direct us that would be great.

Hi, check below for the application processing time frame.

Cheers...

You can apply to extend her visitor visa based on that you are working on your sponsorship application even if you haven't sent it already. Applying to extend will give her implied status even if you haven't heard back yet. Applying to extend through the mail will buy you more time, because the processing time is longer. You should apply a month before her visitor visa expires. You can find your info here: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/visit/extend-stay.asp

will this entitle you to work in canada also ?

Coming to Canada as a visitor does not entitle you to work in Canada.

Applying to extend your visitor status in order to stay longer will also not entitle you to work in Canada.

In order to work in Canada, you need a PR or a work permit.

was it difficulte to get your girlfrend a visiting visa? could you tell me a little more about what happened with that? I want to bring my wife to visit my family in canada. iv been told that if my wife is not rich or doesnt own any property that she will be turned down
