Hi People,

I am planning to apply for Canadian Permanent Resident status through CIC program. I am staying in Chennai(Tamilnadu, India).
I like to know to which visa office should i submit the documents. Can i visit VFS office in chennai to submit my forms?

I prefer submitting forms in person so that i can know if there is any mistake in application and rectify it easily. preventing unnecessary delays in postal return and refiling.

Is it better to apply using a agent?

Thanks in advance
Manivannan

Please read the CIC website before starting the process - ALL applications must be sent to the CIO (Intake office) in Nova Scotia (http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/cec/apply-how.asp). You cannot submit the application to your local office, but you can request that your application be processed at your local office.

Using a representative is a personal and financial decision (as it is very expensive). Representatives can't speed up your application or guarantee approval. Good representatives can help you avoid mistakes before you submit your application - bad representatives can mislead you, delay your application, or get you rejected.

Lots of people apply under the CEC class without representatives and are successful, but they're also careful and thoroughly read the CIC website and guides before applying. It depends on your personal preference - either way, I highly recommend being very detailed and thorough, reading the CIC guide from start to finish, and reading forums like this for common issues prior to applying.

That's some good advice there :)
I would suggest you read from start to finish at least 3-5 times.. Haha! I "found" new things I overlooked previously every time I did that. Last but not least, be very, very organized in your package. Nobody wants to have a hard time trying to figure out what is what in a pile of documents, it will waste lots of unnecessary time that way. Good luck!
