Applying for parent's visitor visa

I am joining the masters program at the University of Waterloo. I have got my study permit last month and will be going to Canada in August.

I want to apply for a visitor visa for my parents. They are planning to come next year to visit me. I would like to know if I can apply for a normal visitor visa which doesn't require a letter of invitation from me and requires less documents (IMM5257, IMM5707,Passport Copy, Photo, Travel History)

Would there be any issue if I apply without the letter of invitation because I am right now in India itself?
