I'm a temporary worker in Canada and I'm looking to renew my work permit which expires on January 2020. I'm exempt from LMIA as I'm a Colombian citizen and I fall under the FTA exemptions. My employer has submitted a job offer on the CIC Employer Portal and I have the job offer number I need to apply for my work permit. The problem comes when I try to start my application online. Whenever I go "Determine your eligibility and apply online:" I answer the questions but I end up being asked if my employer has an LMIA; if I say no it will say I can't request a work permit and if I say yes the document list contains a field to upload the LMIA document (and it's required).
Has anybody applied for this type of work permit? can I apply online or will I have to apply on paper?
