Where do you go to apply? Can you apply right away? How long does it take? And what about the SIN number? Does that take long to process?

Hey Saffy,

once you land, you will confirm the address for the PR card ( then you have to wait about 2 months to get it). Nothing to do about that.
For the SIN: you can do it the same day. you have to go to a "Service Canada" center, with some documents, it seems to be quite easy. see here http://www.servicecanada.gc.ca/eng/sin/apply/how.shtml
the SIN number is given right away ( most people say it takes 10 min! unless there is a big queue), you will receive the card later on, but you will have the number when you get out of the office. (then you can start working as it's active).
For Healthcard: it depends on the province - where will you be landing/living?
