Applying for G1 w/o a foreign license?

Hi everyone,

My husband (US) wants to apply for a G1 before he leaves for US again, so he could take the G2 test when he gets back. But he does not currently have a drivers license in the US. Does Ontario require him to have a drivers license to take the G1 test?

No, he can take the G1 as a beginner. He just has to pass the written test. After 1 year, he can take the basic road test and get his G2 license. If he takes an approved driving course, he can take the road test sooner, 8 months.
