Greetings,

I came in as an International student and have completed one year post graduate diploma from a community college after which I was given Open work permit for 1 year. My work permit is valid till 6th June, 2012. I am working as a General Manager with an financial institution since last 6 months and my employer is ready to sponsor me for my work permit extension.

At First, i was under impression that I do not need LMO to extend my work permit. However, after going through the websites, I go to know that I do need positive LMO in order to extend my stay.

Can any one help me to find out if it is easy to get LMO for anyone who is already in the country and working on a managerial position since last 6 months. Also, once the LMO is received, how difficult is to get the VISA.

Thanks

You employer could consult Service Canada for accelerated processing for LMO for skilled occupation.
When you are in Canada, you don't really need visa unless you plan to travel outside of Canada and want to come back. Visa is for you to enter Canada.

My employer did not meet the criteria under accelerated processing for LMO as he has never applied for LMO.

Please help as I can't afford to pay hefty amount of fees which Immigration consultants charge.

If you are under a PGOWP, your employer does not need to show recruitment efforts to get a new LMO as long as NOC is 0,A or B which you are anyways. After getting the new LMO, it's pretty easy to get WP. You can apply for a WP online as well....
