I have a distant relative who wants to visit me. But we are unsure as to which option to select in the first page of the application portal ("Why do you need a visa?" ) and its effect on the approval chances.
We can say that he is coming "to visit Canada as a tourist" or say that "To visit other family who are not listed above or friends for less than 6 months" . Both would be correct, he will be staying for the holidays, so that's less than a month. I know the tourist option doesn't require an invitation letter but the other one does. Either way, I will be providing a notarized invitation letter for his application, and I can easily prove that I can show that I can support him for his expenses if there's any doubt about his finances.
I wanted to know which one would make it easier for him to get a visa, and whether there is a difference in the visa that he'll get? I think both should give a visitor visa that's multiple entry for 5 years, right?
