Hi All,

I was a guest all these days to this very useful site.. i almost did all my application stuff with all the good information/knowledge gained from this site..

Thanks to all the supporting guys out here..

I work for a software firm and i am currently in canada on intra company transfer for the past 2 years..

I got stuck in the Schedule8 form... what NOC i should mention there as i got three different occupations on three different work permits..

My duties from day one is testing software applications and my current work permit is showing Systems testing technician

If my employer provides a reference letter, it will contain my role as software test engineer or test analyst or test engineer as i am performing those duties.

Now my concern is can i mention my NOC code as 2283 in schedule 8 form for all my experience in canada which is in match with my current workpermit and ignore my earlier work permit occupations as LMO was not in place when my earlier work permits were issued.

My IELTS score is good for skill level A but my duties does not support to apply for skill level A.

I think you should mention your current NOC code on Schedule 8. However, make very sure that your employer gives a Reference letter which includes all the points that is mentioned in the CIC checklist... and also, make sure that the job duties mentioned in your reference letter jives with the ones listed under the said NOC code.

I think you should also, include a detailed cover letter explaining them the unique situation of multiple NOC codes in your work permits even though you worked for the same company and had similar duties... It's even better if you could get this letter from your employer... explaining that even though the NOC codes listed in the WP are different (include the duration of those work exp) you basically did the same work. But this has to be a different letter from the Reference letter... Do not mess with the Reference letter. Judging from all the recent rejections I've seen in this forum.. I believe its crucial to have a clear reference letter that includes all the points listed in the Checklist.

I hope that's clear. Let me know if you have any questions.

Hi Torontogirl83.. thanks for responding to my query.

i did not hear from any one from long time on my query. ur reply made to believe people do help in hour of need.

U mean i can print 2283 for all my experience in canada though my work permits are different each year.

I don't think any employer would give letter explaining duties are same for employee but they processed different work permit. This will effect the relationship of company with immigration.

Any how we need to include current work permit which is showing 2283 as my occupation. Will CEC access all my previous work permits.

my major confusion is, Information technology workers does not have special testing category. How can an immigration officer expect to match the old work permit title for the current CEC NOC 2283 for testing professionals.

cic.gc.ca/english/work/special-tech.asp

My view is that if i get employee reference letter with NOC 2283, that is more than enough.

I may be wrong or weird.

inputs please...

If the 3 occupations had different duties & responsibilities, then list the NOC of your current work permit first and the others on the next line(s) below with corresponding NOC code.

My duties from day one is testing software applications and my current work permit is showing Systems testing technician
If my employer provides a reference letter, it will contain my role as software test engineer or test analyst or test engineer as i am performing those duties.
Your letter should contain your duties and responsibilities for each position you have held in the company from the last 3 years. Employers may assign job titles but Service Canada assigns a NOC code that is most consistent with your main duties and responsibilities regardless of your job title.

Now my concern is can i mention my NOC code as 2283 in schedule 8 form for all my experience in canada which is in match with my current workpermit and ignore my earlier work permit occupations as LMO was not in place when my earlier work permits were issued.Look at all your duties & responsiblities within the last 3 years and use NOC codes most consistent with them. If it happens that NOC 2283 best describes all your skilled work experience, then use it. You can also seek legal assistance to be on the safe side.

My IELTS score is good for skill level A but my duties does not support to apply for skill level A.
I don't think I understand what you mean. The 2nd digit of the NOC code represents the skill level. So for NOC 2283, the 2(in red) = skill level B. For IELTS score, you only need CLB level 5 but you have CLB 7(for skill level A) which is higher, so you are fine.

Hi all,

My case is similar.

i applied for CEC last year with role as software engineer and NOC 2173 but could not provide reference letter. So, my application was refused with a message "Not satisfied as Employee reference letter is not provided" I selected NOC 2173 as i have two year work permits 9990.2 and 9990.5 by then.

Mean while, i got a new work permit for 2012 with sysytems testing technician and this is the perfect title for my duties for the past three years and my reference letter from employer will contain these duties.

Will there be any issue if i reapply with new NOC 2283 now.

Note: My earlier work permits are 9990.2 and 9990.5 but my duties were never in match with these NOC's.

can u Plzz clarify on this

Hi Senoritabella,

1. MY occupation is systems testing technician for the past three years and now my current work permit (from jan 2012) is in match to my duties. Earlier work permits are not in match to my duties. Can i use NOC 2283 in schedule 8 for whole experience in canada as my reference letter is containing the duties i did and are in match with 2283.

2. My position is same systems testing technician for the past three years. So i got a single page reference letter stating 40 hrs per week and looks like:

Period: from date to present
date to date (for 5 months in 2009)
Occupation: Systems testing technician,
Duties:1.
2.
3.
etc...

My employer can give reference letter for only duties i was performing but not to match my earlier work permits. So, will there be any issue using NOC 2283 for my previous periods of work permits having NOC 9990.2 and NOC 9990.5.

As i have all the documentation with reference letter as well, should i consult a lawyer?????
any good lawyer in toronto to seek help...

Thankssss..
