Hey all. Kind of a strange one but here goes. In August 2020 I legally changed my first name. In order to change my passport, I had to change my citizenship card. I sent it all in to IRCC in September 2020, states processing was 5 months. I still haven’t heard anything and in this year they have changed the rules that you no longer need to update a citizenship card to get a new passport. I have a trip booked for March 2022 as I silly me thought I was giving enough time, clearly not) (thanks covid thanks afghanistan) I have decided to withdraw my application and have requested a refund online.
I have a certified true copy of my citizenship card. Has anyone ever applied for a passport using a copy and not the original? I’m kind of in a tough situation right now and was thinking about applying for a passport with a the certified true copy, a stat dec and my receipt showing that I sent my application in when I did.
Looking for any advice!
thanks
