Applying for a new passport after submitting the application

My common law partner couriered her application today to Canada, Outland application with me as sponsor.

I realize that this will take about a year, so I am wondering if she can replace her current passport (the one included as part of the application) during this time period.

If so, do we ask for permission to do That ? Does she fill out some form and submit it to IRCC? Is there a preferable time to do it, such as after she receives aor1, or before or after she is asked to submit biometrics at the VAC?

Will this hold up her application in any way? (We are hoping to land on December 31, realize that it may or may not happen , as it is under eleven months for approval, and since there is no Canadian embassy in our country , her passport will have to be couriered to and from a neighboring country).


I will also ask about doing the passport renewal after a soft landing, but will do so in a different thread.

You don't need permission or anything special to do it. It's all done through the webform.

So, any important changes that are made during the process, such as new passports, addresses, email addresses, name changes, etc require you to notify IRCC through the webform found here: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/contacts/web-form.asp.

My guess is that it will extend processing time so if you can wait until after the landing, probably a good Idea. If you cant wait and the passport will expire soon I would do it asap. We got my wife a new passport before we sent the app. too late?
