I currently enrolled in an MBA program with a University in Australia, but my studies take place at a University in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, So, i had recently been accepted to the MBA program at University in Canada to transfer my academy credit from Malaysia to Canada.

I would like an advice for anyone know the advantages and disadvantages of applying for my Canadian Student Visa from my country of origin or from Kuala Lumpur, where I currently reside. As I am still in Malaysia with the recent university.

I have heard conflicting information, in that some people advise against applying for a visa outside of your country of citizenship, and others advise that the chances of the visa being granted are the same whether you apply from your home country or a different country.
I just want to ensure the best possible chance of my study visa being granted.

Please reply with your thoughts on where it’s best to apply from, detailed information on the application process.

What's your country of citizenship ?

Its more advisable to apply from your home country given that you have a more higher chance of showing home ties(properties I.e employments, land, house, family etc)

Secondly, out of assumption, I don't think you have a PR permit in Malaysia which makes you not a citizen of that country, and even if you are, it is very vital to show home ties which i THINK you can't prove or provide there in Malaysia

Thirdly, getting an admission from a school and getting a visa from CIC are two different things. The VOs are always very reasonable and suspicious. My point is just your school documents(for transfer, funds available to you in Malaysia etc) won't be enough to prove home ties but can also play a huge part in the processing

Though certain people have gotten visa outside their home country but for those who solidly can prove home ties to their current country of residence and at the same time to their home country..

Like @Johnsnow 007 mentioned .

Apply from country of nationality since your case is kinda weak .

You could've applied from Malaysia , if , like in my case , I was a resident in another country , but since a long time , 25 years and employed .
I showed my ties as

i- my family is in country of residence , employment , my own company ( business ) .
ii- properties in country of citizenship , few family members in country of citizenship and I showed that since last 25 years , on an average I've been to country of citizenship almost twice every year .

I thought as much and thanks for your advice. I think the best part would be to apply from my home country and use my asset to support my document. Do you think I can use my register company even if it's not running as home ties as well, if i may to use home properties as a tie.

I am just a student over here without a family permit over here. Just a student visa permit and it wouldn't work for me, if i do that.
You are right about the home ties back home.
Thanks for your advice

Is your company registered and is active ?

By active I mean , is the commercial license active ?

If yes , that's a huge benefit , you have a company in your name and that's a strong case of home ties .

Even my company was not running well , but I showed it by attaching commercial registration copy , and memorandum documents showing that I am a partner in the company .

As long as it has a valid registration, yes. Also you have to attach a tax clearance certificate, and a leave letter that addresses certain ideas that you would leave the management and supervising of the company to an entrusted person until your swift return etc

Also, outside owing a company.. now working as an employer, a study leave of absence is very important to show home ties likewise family who are your sole responsibility to look after
