Apply for PRTD from outside Canada

Can I apply for PRTD a month before my PR card expires if I am outside Canada, and I want to make sure that it is issued before my return date?
My PR expires on first of July, My return in August 25. Can I apply for PRTD in June to make sure it will be issued before August 25? Or should the PR card be expired in order to apply?? (I meet all the requirements)

If PR has not expired, then you can still come to Canada. Apply after expiry.

My PR expires First of July and I am my return date is August 25, so the card will be expired then. I can not travel back earlier than August 25.

So apply once card is expired because until July 1, you can always enter Canada.
