Apply for PR Questions

Hi,

I am starting to apply for Canadian PR but was confused with the multiplicity of data. Just need to confirm following questions in short answers.

Background : I am on H1 Visa, curently in US and want to file for Canadian PR. I do not have a Canadian company offer yet.

1. Is it easy to apply on our own or need an attorney to file to be on the safe side ?
2. I am on H1 and in US for more than 1 year, how do i use the Fast Track process.
3. Do we need to specify Canadian province while applying ? If yes, how do we decide.
4. If we get the approval by Apr 2011, what are the conditions to maintain PR. Do we need to search job and move there within 6 months/ 1 year ?
5. Do we need to have Canadian address for reference ?

It is fine to apply by your own. I am doing it by myself and have started filling the forms today.

Not sure what do you mean by Fast Track process
3. Do we need to specify Canadian province while applying ? If yes, how do we decide.
To begin with, you can enter anything. Unless it is a provincial nomination, you are not bound to stay at the place you specified in the form.
4. If we get the approval by Apr 2011, what are the conditions to maintain PR. Do we need to search job and move there within 6 months/ 1 year ?
You will get approval by 04/11 if you are lucky. You can maintain your status of PR by being in Canada for atleast 3 years in 5 years or whatever that current number is right now. I have not thought about it yet so can't comment.
5. Do we need to have Canadian address for reference ?
No. Canadian address is not required.
