Hello folks,

I am wondering if we are allowed to apply for passport in person even though it is not urgent.

Is there anyone who has applied for passport lately? How long does it take for you to get one? The government just randomly calls the guarantors before issuing passport these days?

I don’t think it’s possible to apply for a passport in-person if it’s not urgent in most of the provinces. I have seen some passport offices in Ontario (may be Etobicoke) allows walk-in these days.

The service level benchmark to complete non-urgent passport processing is up to 25 business days. Passports are mostly being shipped from Gatineau, Québec and the 25 business days doesn’t include shipping time. Passport Canada “may” call the guarantor or ask for additional references or even new guarantor in various situations. They don’t usually call the guarantor if they have and verify all the information in your application.

There is a separate thread for in person application, No they don't allow in person without appointment. You have to use online call back service and for me the latest date they gave me was March 9th in Kitchener and St catherins .
