Hi All..

I have some queries regarding my 'Open Work Permit'. I am in Canada right now, landed before couple of days.
I have 'Visitors Visa/ Dependent Visa' and my husband is having 'Work Permit'.
I would like to know the procedure to apply 'Open Work Permit' for myself and how long will it take to get the same when we apply it within Canada?
Is there any site where I can refer for the list of documents/list of forms which I need to submit while submitting the application?
Awaiting your reply.

Thanks in Advance,
Sayali.

Hi there,
I have a similar question too ..
I am a Czech citizen and I am here on a visitor visa and my common law partner (also Czech citizen) has a work permit. He is working full time as a boxing trainer NOC B in Vancouver B.C.. I would like to apply for an ´´open work permit´´ but I don´t know which application forms I need for it ... Can you help me someone, please? I tried to call to CIC but they are busy long waiting time and no one is responding :'(
Is it true that I may not apply within Canada as a visitor?
thanks Gabi

You can use the standard work permit application form and procedure. Apply online or on paper, your choice.

Either way, you would select work permit type as OPEN and write in employment details "Not applicable" while attaching your spouse's details work permit etc. along with your application.

The basic requirement to apply INSIDE Canada is that you are not here on a VISITOR status meaning a trv with a short term stay in one go of max six months.

However, if you have a different situation e.g. you are spouse or common law partner of a work permit holder who is here, then your situation might be considered.

Still this is my opinion, not a hard fast written thing.
