Apply for new Canadian Citizenship

Hello all,

I came to Canada on Oct 7, 2012 and I received permanent residence card on Dec 2012. I would like to know when I will start prepare and submit for Canadian citizenship? Also how long I will become citizenship?

Any suggestion would be highly appreciated!

Hi Canadian555,the clock start ticking from the day you landed not the day you received your PR card,currently to be eligible to apply for canadian citizenship you have to live in canada for 4 years within the last 6 years preceding the day you submit your application in your case its Oct 8 2016 of course considering you have not left canada since you landed,if you did then add the number of days spent outside canada to meet the eligibility requirements.

processing time for citizenship applications submitted within the last 2 years took an average of 12 months given your application is straight forward and does not need further screening.but these numbers are only a history data and no one can predict how long it will take to process applications submitted next year or two or if any changes will happen to the citizenship rules.
