Hi everyone,
First of all my apologies if this subject is already been discussed in a different thread. I've searched around and haven't found anything. If that's the case, please provide a link to such thread.
Here's my case. My wife is currently under a PGWP that expires end of September 2019. She applied for OINP under the International Student with Job Offer streaming end of April 2019 as her current employer agreed to provide her the form for the program. Last week (May 31 2019), we received an email that her application went under assessment so we are expecting her to get her nominee no later than end of July.
By such time, her existing WP will expire in 2 months and we want to anticipate what needs to be done in order to avoid her losing her worker status and also to stop working. We have a few questions and would appreciate your advice here on what would be the best for us to do and specially how.
1) Apply for a new work permit after nominee understanding that even if the answer for that does not come on time she'll go under implied status . My question here is if we need her PR AOR in order to apply for a new WP. We read that AOR may take around 2-3 months for paper based provincial nominee PR applications and in this case even if we send the application the day after she gets her nominee we probably are gonna time out.
2) Extend her existing work permit. In the OINP instructions guide, it says that if an existing WP is expiring in less than 4 months, she can get a letter from the province to support her work permit extension. Also it says on CIC website that Provincial Nominee with job restrictions cannot apply for a bridge work permit. I was wondering if that is the case for her streaming or not. If so, then how to apply for her WP extension ? Is there a way other than the bridge?
Sorry for the long post, I'm trying to get this for some time now but the more I research, the more confused I get. There's not a consise information and instructions on how to proceed . Thank you very much.
