Applied to BC PNP thinking I didn't have enough points, but then got an ITA?

I guess my question is: now what? I've got my EE CEC application almost 100% complete, should be submitting on the 15th of August if all goes to plan. However, I feel a little confused--I feel somewhat confident I will receive a Provincial Nominee Letter, and supposedly EE applications are prioritized. I applied as quickly as possible (my employer took forever to get me documents...) but I submitted in early June. They say processing time is 3 to 4 months. Can I update my CIC EE application if/once I receive a PNL, or did I waste that $550?...

(My deadline to submit my CIC EE app is end of August). Any thoughts would be much appreciated!

If you already have an ITA, recommend that you submit your application right away. The PN will give you sufficient points to receive an ITA but you already have that. Or so I understood from your post.

I have 469 points, and based on research I did before I didn't think I'd had enough, which is why I applied for PNL. But I guess it doesn't strengthen my application any further, it's just for points?

It doesn't. PN is the means to an ITA just like an LMIA supported job or a score above 450, of late. It doesn't confer any other privileges or makes the processing any easier.

Ahh, I see. Lovely... Thank you, Asivad for your quick response. I am just going to not mention this bit to my partner. ::)

I would go ahead and apply, then send a CSE if you get the PNP. It would give you the extra 600 points, in case the officer finds issues with your application and takes some points away (due to less experience being calculated, etc.)

You have to show that you have at least enough points to have gotten the ITA - this would let you get your application out earlier, as well as help increase the odds of the application being accepted.

Hey brother – don't fret! Simply, e-mail BCPNP with a screenshot of your ITA and they'll process the withdraw request of your application, and (maybe) even refund your full application fee. They are quite reasonable, and as long as you have a legit inquiry, they will respond to your e-mail rather promptly. The processing time for the refund likely depends on your method of payment (i.e. money order vs. cc)

I know this bit of information will be helpful! All the best.

Wow thank you, omstar, I had no idea! I'll see how things go, but that is very helpful.

And thank you, kateg, as well, I hadn't considered the possibility of the application mismatching our points. Lots to think about.
