Applied PR from Canada, visitor record query

I have a PR app in process with estimated date August 2021. I have been living in Canada since Dec 2019, applied for and got extension in May 2020 till Dec 2020 due to covid-19. I applied once again in Nov for extension for same reason, the processing time for which is more than 6 months (198 days now). Question:

1. Would it be wise to seek extension yet again in May (ie after I get response to the previous extension app) citing reason as waiting for PR app decision to avoid tht hassle of needless travel due to covid?

2. Will it adversely affect my PR app in any way?

Note: already submitted biometric and medical.
