Hi fellow members,

My mom is in Canada on a visitor visa expiring in oct 2017. I checked the eligibility using online Cic tool and got 3 options to, pgp sponsorship, supervisa and visitor extension. I decided to go with supervisa, and got all the relevant documents requirement accordingly. ESP. Medical insurance coverage from Canada. I filled the online package accordingly and applied.

Last week we got positive result on our application, however, what we received is just a visitor record with expiry in April 2018 ( as my mom is planning to go back by April 2018 for a short visit and come back)

I was expecting a supervisa stamped on her passport, so that she can return after her short visit back home.

Experts, I need your help:
- Did I do something wrong in app? Or is it just that supervisa can’t be stamped in Canada? If so what is the difference between in Canada extension and supervisa?
- What shall I do now? Apply SV from back home? If so, can I apply immediately or should I wait for couple of month?

Am confused!

TIA

Hi

Did you submit IMM5708?
Yes, IMM5708E

And in Q3 there were 3 options
- extension of my temporary resident status
- restoration of temporary resident status
- initial temporary resident per,it or extension of temporary permit

I selected 1st one and in details of visit , purpose of visit : I selected supe visa for parents and grand parents.

Moreover, mentioned in explanation letter that I am seeking super visa.

You submitted the wrong application. That is an application to extend status in Canada, not to apply for a TRV.

Oh man :(

Now I think only option I have is to apply once she goes back. She may go back in Feb.
Can I apply new supervisa application immediately or should I wait then?

And does she have to be outside Canada for 6 months as she had an extension?
She can apply for a super visa only when she is back in her home country. She cannot apply for it now.

No, she does not have to remain outside Canada for 6 months. However, she must remain outside for a reasonable amount of time to prove she is a genuine visitor

Thanks all. I think it’s better to wait and do it from the home country then.

I'm canadian citizen my mother is in Canada visiting us since december 2017 until (originally) May 30 2018 and for that she have a multi entry visitor visa.
She wants to stay longer as much as she can actually (close to 2 years); therefore I'm helping her to apply for a parent and grandparent Super Visa instead of paying same for renewing for only 6 more month..
Is my understanding she can apply for super visa while in canada instead of renewing her visitor visa but for more than a look at the online options I can't find the right one and i was about to make same mistake as above from kinetic2214 sending form IMM5708E... Can you kindly advise if she can actually apply for super visa from Canada before her visa expires in june 2018? And what would be the link?

Thank you

She can't apply for a SuperVisa from Canada. She would need to return home to apply for one. All you can do is apply for an extension of her current visa.

There is no point in applying for a super visa when she is already in Canada. She would have to be approved for the super visa, leave Canada and re-enter; given that she would have already been in Canada for some time, CBSA is likely to just treat this as a border run and not grant her a 2 year stay.

Just apply to extend her visitor status.
