Applied for eTA, but apparently still Canadian PR after 15 years...

I am a Belgian citizen, who lived in Canada several years as a child untill 2002. I then moved back to Beglium and since then have not entered Canada.
Normally we would be flying to Canada to visit my father next Monday. Two weeks ago, I applied for the eTA completely unaware of the fact I was still considered a PR.
Three days later I learned this news and immediately took action by filling in the 'Renunciation of PR status form' and sent it to the IRCC immediately.
Since then I have heard nothing back. I have no idea how long this process might take, but I have currently made peace that we will probably need to cancel the trip.
However, is there any way that they might let me board the plane if I bring all documents to justify voluntarily renouncing my PR status (that I didn't even know I have)? There are no indications that my eTA would otherwise be refused...

Boarding the plane or not will depend on whether the airline shows you as a board or no board, probably the latter if you cannot show a PR card or a PR travel document or registered as having an ETA and any amount of documentation will not change that unfortunately.

Did you apply to renounce online or via paper. If was online and no other issues then 2-3 weeks could be the norm based on other posters experience, if on paper then could be longer although generally the impression is PR renounce processing is usually quick.

Given i guess you will already suffer some penalty cancelling the flight maybe leave until the last minute to cancel.

Indeed I do not have a valid PR card or travel document, unfortunately... I can only show a Social Insurance Card and a Record of Landing from 1998.
The message from the IRCC said to submit the Renunciation form via the online secure tool. In this way they could automatically continue processing my eTA application. I therefore believed that it would make the process go quicker and thought it could still be settled in time.
I have also looked at the option to go via the US/Canada border, but prices for these tickets are really high.
Our plane departs at 11 AM local time (4 AM EDT) on Monday, so waiting during the weekend will probably not help?
Anyway, thanks for the information!
