Right. So actually some of the November PER applicants' paper files may already have reached their destination VO, but won't get a communcation until the VO start to process them and we do not know how long that will take because we don't know whereabouts we will slot in with the existing pre-June-26 applications at VO.

In this regard, i request the members with the earliest PERs to email their VOs for more information on when and how their applications are going to be slot in the queue(if there is a queue at all).

May be they can ask about how to add some updates to their application just for the sake of emailing them .

I had my suspicion when I first read your posting. I believe it's highly likely that your application is stuck in Customs – like you said you can't blame them for that! The condition of your first application upon its return also suggest that they do have a closer look at some packages. Unfortunately with the holidays, weather, etc. it may take them a while longer to have it back into system for delivery to CIO. I and many others are certainly praying for that for you.

Just got off the phone with local TNT, Iran. The case has been closed as lost. My package has reached Toronto on Dec 5th, passed all customs and security checks and handed over by TNT on Dec 6th to Purolator which is a Canadian local courier,as TNT didn't have coverage Sydney.The package has left the Purolators final warehouse and last scanned then, put inside the Purolator's van and set off toward Sydney and was due to be delivered on Dec 8th to the CIO. The final result is that the package has been lost when in possesion of the driver somewhere on the way between to final destination.It might be delivered mistakenly anywhere without being scanned. And that's the sad end of my story. :'(

Categorically not. CIO have no authority to get your bank details and the bank cannot legally tell them anything without your consent.

Visa office may ask for additional proof of funding documents if they are not satisfied with the ones you have sent, before a final decision is made, but neither visa office nor CIO can obtain any details about your bank. They will ask you for further evidence if they want it.

Nice to see you around. I'l have to do sth, but unfortunately CIO has put me up in the air. They say if by any chance it has been delivered to them and not scanned by the dumb driver, then they already have the my file -although they are not able to give me any info of whether they have received it or not at least for the next two months, cause they are now reviewing the mid October cases- so I in case I sent another set of documents that would be two entries for one person and that's against the rules.

Very complicated case!

Besides, we only have TNT and DHL in Iran , no other courier. Fedex is great, but doesnot operate from here and niether do other couriers.

Yes, first of all we followed the case with TNT, Iran. When we got no answer and help then we tried TNT,Toronto. Then they told us that they had submitted it to Purolator. After that for about a week we were on the phone with Purolator, Canada. They assigned an investigator for my case. The team searched all warehouses and cars. Then they sent the driver to the CIO to ask for information. He was denied info due to privacy issues. Then I sent an authorization form for my friend in Vancouver and assigned him as my representative to ask about my case from them as per directed by CIO itself!! Ater all these had been done, CIO said that my file submitted on DEC 1st is way too new to be given any info on.And he was advised to call back after two months and ask if they have or have not received my file. And also he was advised that I shouldn't apply before that because in case they have already received it they will file to entries for one person , and that's illegal!!! :-\

You know, I wonder if the CIO ppl were going to tell my friend that they are not able to give info on a Dec filed case, why they asked for the authorization form ? They knew from the very first step that my package was submitted on Dec 1st.!

but you see its a long Q in 2 to 10 Sept'10 (except wakawaka).

total 19 persons, specially in

I think this is highly populated area of the spreadsheet!!
do you know how many non-working days in CIO for x'mas & new year?
so, waiting to get a result before that long vacation.

yeah it might be bit late, becoz according to our spreadsheet 71 applicants in Sept'10 and this is the highest number of applicants in a month.


but i wish Sept applicants will finish before February 2011, as they are joined more than other months!!!!!

Hi Katy,

Its really sad news. You should collect all documents for reapply. Though CIO told you to contact after two months, you should email them after one months for status of your application. Meantime you try to ready another set for application including IELTS copy.

Your NOC will not be reached 1000 caps upto june 11 if current rate is running. So you have time to follow the CIO directives.
You can use DHL for next time. DHL have the facility to deliver directly to CIO office.

I tried to do a bit of moving average (2) trend calculation on the spreadsheet for
1. All applicants who have received their PERs
2. For similar NOCs that have received PERs

My objective was to find a trend and/or perhaps a 6 degree polynomial equation that would fit the curve (things that you do when you are bored to death and have nothing else to do). I also wanted to check the hypothesis that one NOC has been alloted to one processing officer or not. It might be a batch that comes to one officer with various NOCs.

There seems to be limited evidence that one processing officer might be processing one NOC only. Reason is the average time taken to review one application in one NOC reduces with the number of applications. Mathematically,
Time spent on one application is inversely proportional to total number of application in one NOC
Now there are various variables to be considered. Is it because of holidays pressure? How well presented and processing-officer-friendly is the application? How many officers are there? How their time is being managed? (If I am their manager, I will not want only one processing officer to process only one NOC. Its not efficient considering small number of applications in one NOC. But again, their work load can be rationalized.)

Keeping in mind the limited data set available for analyses, I have to say that this study has been inconclusive.

Second method used by me is to use 2 opposite end points of the dataset. As per the Excel sheet, the longest time before a PER was granted after receiving application is 143 days and the shortest time is 99 days. So add these numbers to your receiving date and you will have an idea of the time period. I would suggest +/-5 days to account for Xmas and New Year Holidays variations. Good news for us (and bad news for CIO employees) is that 26th Dec (Boxing day) is not a statuary holiday in Nova Scotia.
