If I applied without taking the IELTS test,
Within which minimum period should I take the exam and send them the results
Or should I do the test before sending my applciation

Please advice me. I have also posted a topic before explaining my background
This is the previous topic:
Dear Helpers,

I am applying for Canada Immigration as a Skilled Worker and has the following background:
- BSc in Civil Engineering (Palestine, Gaza Strip)
- MSc in Water Resources and Environment (Jordan in the Middle East)
- Currently as a PhD candidate (in Germany) in the field of Hydrogeology.
- I have publishe/participated in publishing three journal paper in international journal in our field of research (in English)

All of study as well as my research were/are fully conducted in English. I attached a declaration of me regard my English proficiency. I am also going to attach three letters for the universities (BSc, MSc and PhD) that English is the main study/research language.

I have here some questions:
(1) To which extent should I make an official test for English language
(2) What happen if I do not make such test (actually I have no money / no time to do a test)
(3) Could I find a way to make the test after being preliminary accepted
(4) what are the test that are recognized by them and what are the grades/level that one should have

Thank you very much

They strongly advise you to take the IELTS instead of using documents to prove your English unless English is your mother tongue. If you use documents, you are putting it in the hands of the visa officer how many points they give you. Some, none, who knows, maybe not enough for your application to go forward.

Therefore, if it's at all possible for you to take IELTS, do it. Time and money is not a good excuse when it's put up against having a successful application.

Go to http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/skilled.asp and read the application guide for Federal Skilled worker and you will see how many points you can get for English depending on your score on IELTS.

You can in fact apply without IELTS but if they accept you and give you 120 days to send your documents, you would have to take it. When you take it, it also takes time to schedule the test etc., you may have one chance to take it and wait for your results in the 120 day period and then what happens if you do not get as many points as you thought and end up with less than 67? We see people come to this board in that exact situation all the time. Better to take the IELTS before and be sure that you have 67 points before you apply.
