Application - surname change

Hi,

My fiancé lives in the states and I live here in Canada. We are planning to get married in September so we can immediately process our sponsorship application.
I'm aware that I have to fill out the sponsorship application first - just wondering if I don't change my surname to my fiance's surname, will it affect our application? It's just that it might take a while to legally change my name before we submit our application and we don't wanna delay anything.
This might be a stupid question, but I'm new to this, and I need other people's opinions.

Thank you!

It doesn't really matter. Although I would take care of the name change first. Then you won't have to go through reporting your name change and providing proof of said change to CIC after the fact. I'd stay away from anything that might potentially cause delays.

You mean, if I were to change my surname during the application process, I'd have to notify them?
I was planning on changing my surname after application approval (crosses fingers)

Maybe to keep your life simple, change your name after he's landed.

I read here that you are to notify your VO of the change if the application is outland:
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?q=303&t=3

I'd wait until after landing too, that's a good idea. Maybe call CIC and find out if it could cause delays and take a course of action from there.
