Hi
My husband had applied for PR before our marriage. But later on my file was also submitted with all the required documents. So, we had applied for PR together. My husband's PNP already got approved before our marriage. Now, its been more than four months that my medical has also been submitted. But, so far there is no communication from CIC people. Also, the online tracking status shows "Application received" but the date there is coming up before our marriage when my husband's file was received by them.

Could anyone please suggest if we should simply wait or email or contact CIC people on the current status?

Thanks

Contact them and seek updates. Maybe the background check is delaying.

No matter what, DON'T land or ever use that PNP PR visa. Return it to the visa office.

Many thanks for the reply but the thing is I am in India and my husband is in Canada who has the PNP approved. Actually, I am not not able to know what is the current status of our application and how much more time it's going to take. Though I have heard that they ask for the landing fees/passport approximately one month after the medical has been submitted. But, four months have passed after the medical too.

So, we are thinking to apply for my visitor visa to Canada as we are not getting any news on PR.
Please share your views if someone has faced similar situation or aware of the same.

Thanks

if i understand right you mean your husband added your file during application process..I was in same situation..i got nomination before i got married..later i added my wife to my existing application.Your file might be delaying because in between he added you .but he could still apply for an open work permit for you..you might dont need medicals as you are alredy done for pr..i did an open permit appliaction for my wife which was approved in 3 -4 days...which will be easy for final stage processing if both of you guys are in canada

Thanks Joshy for the views shared. One more query, if we apply for my visitor visa now, what's the time and possibility of getting the same. Would it affect our PR at any stage?

Thanks

Online takes like 2-4weeks but Paper submission can be up to 8 weeks and sometimes more. The time does not usually strictly follow what you see on their websites however, from my observation from forums, the possibility of getting a Visitor visa while your PR is under processing very low. Somehow(may be from information available to immigration)I want to assume they are of the opinion that they assume people used it to remain in Canada. This is just my guess which may not be true.

......however there is no harm in trying and you have nothing to loose apart from the Visa fee ....cheers and goodluck!

Hi Obib

If we are in job, then it's a reason that the person would surely be coming back from Canada to the place to resume the job.

.....Definitely having a great job to come back to most of the time usually don't convince CIC again because unfortunately, there are many examples of those with good job who still stay back after their visit and you know once inside, all you need to do is extend your visitor's Visa however, I will advice dont be discourage you can never know that you will not get the visa until you apply, build up a case and go for it.You've got nothing to loose.

Hi All,

I am still in confusion whether to apply for visitor visa or not during our PR application in processing? How much time it would take to be approved if I apply by first week of February?
Also, the application status is not getting updated on CIC website. So, not aware of the current situation.

Please help on my queries.

Thanks
