My status has been updated: (Any Comments??)

1.We received your application for Canadian citizenship (grant of citizenship) on March 22, 2014.

2.We sent you a letter acknowledging receipt of your application(s), and a study book called Discover Canada on March 22, 2014. Please consider delays in mail delivery before contacting us.

3.We started processing your application on April 30, 2014.

I have few questions:

1- How would I know about my local office where my application was sent to?
2- I haven't received my acknowledging receipt of your application(s), and a study book , How long it might take?
3- What is the meaning of "In Process"
4- Has CIC conducted my background check?
5- Are there any chances that my application could still be returned due to 'some/any' missing documents or signature and so on?
6-I got a job in the Middle East, Can I leave Canada now with peace of mind> I will come back for the test later

7- How long it may take when they call me for test/interview and oath

Thanks for your comments in advance!!!!

Hi ,

I am sorry I won't be able to answer your questions as I am yet to apply , however I do have a question for you.I am sure some senior members will have answers for you.

I do believe you send school records for your kids from both inside and outside of Canada .Could you please advise what documents you actually send for the records.

Thanks and all the best for the future processing of your application.

Your file is In Process means it is with Sydney now and have not sent to the local office yet. If you live in Toronto, it will go either St. Clair or Scarborough Town Center depending on your are code.

You can leave Canada but if it is more than 2 month you have to inform your local office in writing if the file has transferred the time you will leave otherwise just phone call informing is OK. Your test could be within 6-7 month depending on local office. However, if you leave for overseas job assignment in middle east that could lead a RQ and might delay till 24-30 months, you never know.

In my opinion, CIC will not schedule your test until they know your arrival date and in your case it is uncertain. Your job plan will put our citizenship application on risk even your PR status. CIC does not entertain a PR of Canada going abroad for a job for extended period unless it is a Canadian affiliation. Once you are citizen then you are free from all issues.. I think you may wait till your test before you leave for extended period.

Hi ...I didn't get your question completely. Are you talking about all documents required for the application or just kids documents?

Well, as far as the documents for kids' education from inside and outside of Canada are concerned.....I attached the progress reports/report cards of all semesters/terms along with the student school record. BTW schools usually know what type of documents to attach. Make a request and you'll get everything. Likewise, you need to provide report cards from outside Canada schooling.

Good luck

Thanks bro! Yup I was referring to school records only. As bill C-24 appears to be just around the corner,I dont want to get my application returned so just want to make sure that I submit everyting required.

Thanks once again !

Thanks for your detailed reply......

But I know many people who just leave Canada after their citizenship application and do not inform CIC. As soon as they get call for citizenship test, they just come back to Canada and do the test.

What happens if you fail to inform cic about your departure from Canada? Can you citizenship application be refused?

You need a similar situation.
for example if you come to pass the test with a very recent stamp on your passport...some people they are telling it's an issue ,,,I am not sure though
